Providing counseling for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Treatment specialization includes:
- Individual Counseling:
~ adults and adolescents meet with a therapist one-on-one to address a variety of issues and concerns. - Play Therapy:
~ specialized therapy for children ages 3-12 utilizing play, the natural language of children, and other expressive techniques. - Sand Tray Therapy:
~ an expressive therapy in which a client is able to construct a visual representation of their world utilizing sand and a collection of miniature objects. The client will then process this tray with a trained therapist to promote healing and change. This therapy can be used for all ages. - Couples Counseling:
~ couples meet with a therapist to work on relationship issues, communication, pre-marital counseling, marital enrichment, or marital crisis. - Family Therapy:
~ a therapist will work with the family as a whole to address communication, crisis situations, and other relationship issues. - EMDR – Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing:
~ a modality used to decrease the effects of trauma, anxiety, phobias, and other issues. EMDR mimics the REM cycle of sleep (the time that our brain processes events that have occurred in the day) using eye movements, hand tapping, and/or audio stimulation to reprocess emotional or distressing memories. - DBT – Dialectical Behavior Therapy:
~ identifies and changes problem thoughts and behaviors that, largely, effect relationships. This is done primarily through talk therapy, and is most effective in teens and adults. - EFT – Emotionally Focused Therapy:
~ a type of therapy that sees emotions as one of the most important vehicles for change. Emotions are a way we adapt to various situations in life and can therefore help change problematic situations in which we may find ourselves. EFT helps clients to better identify and react to emotions in themselves and others, and helps them apply this information in a more skillful way.
