Ali McGary

Asking for help is one of the most important and courageous steps in seeking mental health care. I’m so glad you’re here! I believe that everyone deserves support as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. My office is a safe space where clients are seen, heard, and valued. My goal is to empower clients to explore their experiences, build on their strengths, and discover new opportunities for growth and healing.

Education:

Ali earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College. She has also completed specialized training in sex therapy and sand tray therapy.

Style:

Ali works from a person-centered perspective, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. The key concepts of person centered therapy, unconditional positive regard, empathy, and authenticity, create space for a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship. Ali integrates a variety of additional modalities into her work, including child-centered play therapy, Adlerian play therapy, sand tray therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Hobbies:

Outside of work, Ali enjoys photography, reading, puzzles, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She's a huge Swiftie and has been known to incorporate friendship bracelet making and subtle lyric dropping into sessions. One of her favorite songs is "You're on your own kid".

Ali specializes in working with clients ages 4 to 65+, addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. She is LGBTQ+ affirming, sex-positive, and supports body positivity.
