Katrina Carter

I believe counseling should feel approachable, supportive, and useful for everyday life. I am passionate about helping people see that therapy is not only for moments of crisis or when something feels “broken.” Instead, I view counseling as a space where people can grow, reflect, and better understand themselves and their relationships.

Caring for our mental and emotional well-being should be just as important as caring for our physical health. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable talking openly, gaining new insight, and building healthier ways of navigating life. I see therapy as a partnership. As a neutral and supportive guide, I want to work alongside clients as they move through challenges, strengthen relationships, and continue growing into the lives they want to live.

Education

Katrina Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Florida State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology at Capella University.

Style

Katrina takes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy. She draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and relational life therapy. She believes effective counseling is not one-size-fits-all. Each individual and couple brings unique experiences, needs, and goals into the therapy space. Because of this, Katrina values remaining flexible and dynamic in her work, using approaches that best support each client’s growth, insight, and meaningful change.

Hobbies

Outside of counseling, Katrina is an unofficial film critic. She likes analyzing and evaluating the characters and the story, and she especially enjoys those moments that make you laugh, cry, or yell at the screen, knowing the actors cannot hear. She also enjoys event planning for family and friends and uses every holiday as a reason to celebrate and make memories. Whether it is a themed birthday or a simple get-together, she loves creating spaces where people can relax, laugh, and spend quality time together.

Specialties and Interests

Katrina enjoys working with individuals and couples navigating concerns related to sexuality, co-dependency, anxiety, relational challenges, intimacy, and life transitions. She is particularly interested in helping clients build healthier relationships with themselves and others while developing stronger communication, emotional connection, and self-understanding.
