Education
Karrigan is currently a student in Lipscomb University’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. She is under the supervision of Megan VanAmberg, LPC-MHSP, License #7210 (TN) and Lipscomb University Clinical Mental Health Counseling faculty who are licensed mental health providers in Tennessee.
Style
Karrigan aims to work from an attachment-based orientation, using a blend of perspectives such as somatic, narrative, and trauma-informed with a bit of psychoeducation. She believes we can hold a lot of emotion in our bodies, so she will often bring attention to that, practicing stillness and mindfulness. As a former college athlete herself, Karrigan is passionate about working with young athletes, especially those who want to build confidence and cope with performance anxiety. She works with the lifespan (4+), but particularly enjoys working with children using child-centered play therapy. She is also interested in working with identity exploration and development, LGBTQ+ affirmation, building confidence, and relationship distress, while incorporating sand tray and expressive arts therapy when appropriate.
Hobbies
In her free time, Karrigan likes to go to the gym, play volleyball, enjoy the quiet of nature, and be creative through painting, crafting, and baking. She loves to go camping, paddle boarding, hiking, and running with her dog. On rainy days, she curls up with a book, sometimes an interesting psychology book, but most often a fun romance novel.
