“Knowing that we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.” – Fred Rogers

“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song”

These words reflect the beliefs I hold for all people and my calling in the work I do. I hope to provide a space for all my clients to share their stories in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. I believe deeply that every person is inherently valuable and already holds within themselves the tools needed to grow. My work is grounded in the belief that through a relationship based on empathy, genuineness, and acceptance, clients can move toward more positive ways of being. Counseling is a space to work through the messiness and heal from past wounds. I am especially passionate about providing this care for children and would be honored to walk alongside you.

Education

Alicia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Freed-Hardeman University and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University.

Style

Alicia works from a person-centered perspective, meaning she strives to build a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe to explore themselves openly and honestly. She works with her clients to meet them where they are and develop goals that meet their needs. With children, she uses Child-Centered Play Therapy, an evidence-based approach designed to meet their developmental needs and help them move toward more positive ways of being. Alicia also loves incorporating expressive arts into her sessions, as it allows for deeper work and more authentic self-expression.

Hobbies

Alicia enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, crafting, hiking, and being outdoors! Being with others energizes her so she will be happy doing anything if she is with her friends!
