Jacob Smith

Hello, my name is Jacob. I’m a former collegiate athlete who’s influenced by jazz music and found understanding in the writings of a psychologist from the 60s. My life wasn’t put together by only me, and who you are wasn’t put together by just you. Growth and change come in groups, and so does healing. Inside and outside of counseling we need others. Don’t keep doing things alone and instead invest in the opportunity to make your future different. If you’re interested in the relationship counseling offers, follow that instinct because counseling works. I would love to hear about all the good, bad, and indifferent from your life that makes you who you are.

Education:

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, and after I missed receiving a Studio Art Minor by one class, I attended Lipscomb University where I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Play Therapy Specialization.

Style:

I use a holistic and pragmatic therapeutic approach that emphasizes evidenced-based interventions with a foundation of genuineness, empathy, and unconditional-positive regard for my clients.

Hobbies:

I love my wife, daughter, and spicy food. Bruce Lee, Luke Skywalker, and Batista are three of my inspirations. You can find me directly or tangentially involved with one or a combination of the aforementioned.

Specialties:

Anxiety, depression, spiritual, and grief issues. I also use expressive arts and play therapy.
